YOU ASKED…?

*****************************

Please give consideration to the first question … it is actually THE most asked question on “You Asked …?”:

?~ Hi, I lost my AHS yearbooks when my mother’s home was flooded in Albany back in the 1990’s. Are you aware of any sources that might sell yearbooks from 1983-1985? Thanks!

~Teresa Dill Mills (’85)

?~ How can I obtain a copy of Graham Lowe’s new book? I would love to have it autographed for my mom, but I am not in Albany. My mom was Class of ‘62 - Judy Fulmer (and my dad too - Richard Patterson). My brother Doug and I both went to Deerfield while Coach Lowe was there, so I know what to buy for my brother when Coach Lowe writes the Deerfield book! Why don't you add my mom. Her email address is below. She is in Gainesville now - so she is close to us too. Thank you.

~ Connie Haywood/Constance Patterson Haywood

?~ How would I get a copy of Graham Lowe's Book, "It's A Grand Old School?" Thanks.

~ Sandra Brunson

A~ Sent Coach Lowe’s information to Connie and Sandra (see questions above)

?~ This is a photo (from 1951 or 1952) of a Christmas Dance at the American Legion in Albany.

Missing from this old photo is Hope McKemie and her date. The newspaper photo of that part is torn away. If anyone knows anything about Miss McKemie's date, or anything about the dance please let me know. Why was this group photographed? Thanks,

~ Luke Simmons (’52)

simmons747@msn.com

?~ I am looking for a picture of the original Radium Springs Elementary School back in the 80’s. Thanks!

~ Kay Simmons

A~ I was put in contact with someone who did make the copies for my friend from my Sunday School class who had lost all her annuals, and was looking for a copy of pictures from her 1950 senior class annual ...Thank you very much!

~ Barbara A. Robinson, Class of ‘62

50th Wedding Anniversaries and beyond ...

*****************************

Peggy Jo Irwin Davis, Class of 1954 and husband, Jack, celebrated their 56th anniversary August 25, 2013!

55 years and counting ……………

On September 21st, 55 years ago, we promised each other to spend our lives together……

For better or worse……..been up and down that roller coaster ride a few times!

For richer or poorer…..we did the poorer part so well that we never got around to the richer!

In sickness and in health…..we didn’t like that sickness stuff, so decided to stay healthy!

And to love each other to death …….. we’re still working on that part!!!

In today's world we are an endangered species!

~ Wilburn (’53) and Martha LeSueur (’56) Nicholson

*** Carlton Fordham posted on Albany High Times' FaceBook timeline: My sister Jackie (Fordham) Jarman passed away 8/25/13. I believe she was a member of the Class of 1950. Obituary is listed atSpring Hill Memorial Chapel website, Spring Hill, TN." She was a fine person. She had been on dialysis for the last three years and was miserable and elected to discontinue the dialysis and go be with our mother and dad and Jesus. She will be missed by all who knew her. My son, John, told Brenda and me that his Aunt Jackie was the only Angel he had ever met.

*** Ben Swilley: I just read where Russell Cross passed away. He was 90 and the father of Jeanie Cross ('76) who was Miss Georgia and, as I recall, a finalist in the Miss America contest. What was impressive to me was his incredible war (WWII) record. He truly was one of the "Greatest Generation!"

*** The Ed Faber article was really interesting and I learn something new about the Albany area every time I read the News & Clues. In my 20 years living in Dougherty County I never saw one bald eagle! It looks like at that time they were in decline but have made a come back! Very Interesting article!

~ Joe Henderson Class of 1957

*** Had fun reading your article about going back to Albany ... (http://albanyhightimes.com/going_back.htm). We lived on 9th Avenue for many, many years. Long, long time ago. I sent my kids up to Hillcrestmany times for one thing or another. Used to push my babies in the stroller to "get milk" or "bread" ... We had an account! It was a good life ...

My husband is the Albany native. He is Dennis Everson ... a '68 graduate, but he went to Leesburg for his senior year.

His father was L. M. Everson, a contractor, built so many of the homes around Albany. They lived on Gillionville for the majority of his life ... then Mr. Everson built an impressive house in Lee Cty.

I am writing a novel set in Albany in 1968.

~ Eva Marie Everson, President

*** Thanks to Pat Dean (’48) for sending her classmate, Janet Marks Sobel’s obituary. We are extremely grateful to those who take the time to notify us.

~ BSH

*** My sister in law, Carolyn Arneson Purrier, Class of 1960, just told me about Jackie Gladin Evans ('60). Herbert (Gladin ’59) and Steve (Arneson ’57) were good friends.

~Catharine Holt Norton ('52)

*** Ted Sparling just passed away, 8/18/2013.

He was a 1955 graduate of Albany High School. He had been living in Carrabelle, Florida, after moving from Albany a few years, ago. The services will be private.

~ Patsy Melvin Donnelly ('57)

*** You had Gene Crawford's 1944 class right in last month's Times. My class was 1947. Thank you for the notice of our anniversary and all the news. I'm sure we all want to repay you for all you have done but I don't know how to go about it. Love.

~ Aloha Mallard Saye

NOTE: Aloha ... What I receive from many of the people signed up to receive the newsletter, ranging from classes of 1933 to 2009, fills me with joy. not to speak of the connections with people, like you, that otherwise would have never happened … and those connections are GOLD!

*** Thanks to Jackie Phillips, ('57) for sending Dale Holland's obituary last January, and to Jack Corbin ('59) who notified us of his death and additionally his AHS class.

*** So many obituaries don't mention where the deceased Indian attended high school, nor the class year. Great to have Brenda Arnett Darbyshire’s (’67) help. She's doing a great job of sending them in.

~ Martha LeSueur Nicholson ('56)
